Business Development Engineer

Holtec International, a growing and diverse company with its primary focus in the energy industry, is seeking applicants for an experienced Business Development Engineer position in its Brazilian’s division located in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. The Business Development Engineer must be a self-motivated team player who is eager to help of the company’s core business in the energy industry. Specific business focus areas are engineering, capital equipment, and technical services for thermal storage, nuclear power plant and heat transfer equipment for nuclear and commercial power plants, decommissioning and waste management services for nuclear installations in the South American territory. The individual must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
The Business Development Engineer will report directly to the Program Manager of Holtec do Brasil. The position will require regular travel to client offices, and power plants within the assigned territory. The ideal candidate will be well-rounded in technical and commercial aspects thermal storage facilities. The candidate must be highly motivated, results-oriented and capable of interacting with business executives at all levels.
This position requires domestic and international travel.
The Business Development Engineer job duties include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Assist the Business Development team by providing technical and commercial information to potential customers verbally and in written form.
- Interpret customer needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions.
- Develop relationships by communicating with current and potential customers.
- Manage the entire proposal development lifecycle:
- Navigate activities prior to Requests for Proposal or Quotations (RFP/RFQ) are released (i.e., engage technical disciplines, create templates, compile draft responses, etc.)
- Draft win-themes, proposal strategy approaches, and review Q&A results
- Generate proposal response calendars including milestone dates, review meetings, proposal development, and final proposal submission
- Perform RFP reviews, breakdowns, analyses, and create specific internal assignments
- Create writing outlines to ensure compliant and comprehensive proposal responses
- Manage internal proposal section development with subject matter experts
- Develop compliant, customized, comprehensive, and responsive technical proposals reflecting customer-specific themes
- Participate in strategy, status, and review meetings
- Write original text/tables and proof, edit, and re-write all sections and documents as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency of message, and RFP compliance
- Prepare sales reports showing current sales volume and future sales projections.
- Assess competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends; identify sales opportunities.
- Update job knowledge by studying new product descriptions; participating in educational opportunities
Additional Responsibilities (depending upon candidate’s technical capabilities and interests)
- Work with the project team to ensure that all requirements are met in the design, manufacturing and installation stages.
- Support review of contracts with Holtec’s legal team and add value with regards to risk identification and mitigation strategies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering or Scientific discipline. Master's Degree or PhD in a field related to his activities is desired.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the energy industry.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Business Development Engineer.
- Strong understanding, thermal energy storage, power cycles, etc.
- Fluent in English language.
