Holtec International is seeking qualified applicants for a technical position in its Applied Mechanics department with the Corporate Engineering division (CED) located in Pune, India. This department is the company's center of excellence in the field of structural mechanics supporting a number of Holtec subsidiaries including SMR, LLC, which is engaged in designing Holtec’s flagship small nuclear reactor. Specialists in this department are engaged in the seismic and structural analysis of metallic, reinforced concrete and soil-subgrade structures and dynamic simulation of accidental drop of heavy equipment used in the nuclear power plants. If assigned to work in the SMR-300 program, the analyst will support engineering and licensing requirements, leading to the licensing and construction of the first SMR-300 plant. In addition to Pune, the candidate will collaborate with associates from other operation centers on different projects. Similar positions may also be open at other operation centers.


Primary Responsibilities:


• Execute and document analyses for a variety of structural systems and components under structural loadings
• Review available concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements, then develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analyses as permitted by project milestones
• Support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings
• Support licensing and regulatory compliance efforts by generating safety analysis reports, technical reports in accordance with regulatory, ASME and other relevant standards.
• Conduct validation and verification of analytical models.


Required Qualifications:


• Applicant must possess a BE in Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering
• Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ASCE, ACI and AISC
• Must possess excellent credentials in principles of solid mechanics
• Must possess excellent technical writing and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:


• ME or Ph.D. in Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Industrial experience in stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA and other finite element analysis codes used widely
• Prior nuclear industry experiences including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities
• Experience in seismic analysis of free-standing structures/systems and stress analysis of pressure vessels and rotatory equipment
• Experience in modular design development of SSCs
