Shipping Clerk

The Shipping Clerk will play a pivotal role in scheduling transportation of product, keeping track of the product in process internally and externally and vendors, and communicating with the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor of deliveries and pickups. This person will work with numerous departments internally and a host of vendors externally communicating needs and making decisions based on the information received.
Location: Orrville, OH (On site)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure materials are received and shipped in accordance with approved processes.
- Exceptional customer service skills with respect to communication with Vendors.
- Ensure that all associates complete assigned tasks according to expectations.
- Maintain overall responsibility for performance of operation.
- Will be responsible to escalate issues to Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.
- Will be responsible for escalating operational issues to management.
- Ability to work with computer systems based on understanding of reports and information.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Work experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage and coordinate domestic shipments. INTL shipment experience is a plus.
- Coordination and Operational experience with various modes of transportation (small parcel, LTL, FTL, Dedicated, oversize/over dimensional, ocean, air, rail)
- Familiarity with international shipping operations and administration via freight forwarders
- Experience working with all levels of carrier management (drivers and operations)
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Proven collaboration skills (accounting, production, safety, project management, procurement) as it relates to Shipping Logistics.
- Ability in working independently and efficiently.
- Experience creating Bill of Lading (BOL)
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, or a related field
- Strong understanding of logistics, inventory movement, and material handling processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; intermediate to advanced computer skills preferred
- Forklift certification and/or operating experience preferred
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and consistently meet performance objectives
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Accurate data entry and typing skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Regularly required to communicate effectively and remain on feet for extended periods of time
- Frequently required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to work in warehouse, manufacturing, and outdoor loading environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as required by the position
