Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor supports all inbound and outbound operations for the entire shop. This role oversees logistics, shipping operations, and preparing shipments, as well as unloading trucks, verifying counts, and delivering product to various departments on the production floor. The ideal candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and ensure minimal down time between product completion and shipping of product.
Location: Orrville, OH (Onsite)
Shift: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Scheduling shipments and dock times, and dispatching loads; all while adhering to established procedures. Work with vendors to deliver / pick up product for operations.
- Supervising shipping associates, including prioritizing and assigning work, and monitoring the quality and quantity of the work performed.
- Maintaining inspections, registrations and vehicle titles.
- Conducting/attending regular meetings with all associates/management to provide quality and performance feedback, address operating issues, and provide training.
- Implementing quality improvement and cost reduction ideas.
- Managing outbound shipments for optimum utilization.
- Negotiate transportation rates and services.
- Communicate the notices for shipping and billing purposes.
- Maintenance of company vehicles and equipment (i.e. trailers, forklifts, etc.).
- Knowledge and understanding of international paperwork for shipments both small parcel and dedicated carriers.
- Maintain accurate records in a database to track material movement.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 5 years of prior Shipping/Receiving Experience
- 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience
- The ability to have professional judgment / decision making skills in customer related situations
- Moderate to advanced computer skills
- The ability to give instructions, and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
