Project Engineer

Holtec International, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry, is seeking a Project Engineer to join its site engineering team.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering site-based engineering activities in line with client processes and safety standards. The role involves managing work packages, supporting field execution, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with project, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Specific Area of Responsibility:
- Work within the client’s work management process
- Draft and obtain approval for Work Order Cards (WOCs)
- Manage and implement risk mitigation actions identified in the risk register
- Apply lessons learned from previous projects
- Identify and escalate issues to the Project Manager
- Manage Condition Reports and support the Corrective Action Programme
- Prepare documentation and work packs ahead of field activities
- Supervise field activities on site
- Review and approve subcontractor risk assessments and method statements
- Maintain Work Area Standards
- Support emergent issues and document updates
- Record lessons learned and raise observations in the client database
- Liaise with client departments as required
- Review spare parts usage and coordinate with the client’s Supply Chain team
- Author Category 3 Engineering Changes
Minimum Qualifications:
- HNC or HND in a relevant engineering discipline
- Demonstrable experience in a site-based project engineering role
- Experience managing subcontractors and enforcing health & safety standards
- Ability to obtain security clearance
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients
- Ability to independently plan, organise, and manage small work packages
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline
- Experience using project management methodologies
- Experience ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, including CDM regulations
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification
- Experience working in regulated environments, preferably within power generation or nuclear sites
