Quality Engineer II 

The Quality Engineer – Oversight is responsible for providing technical leadership and quality assurance support to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, and customer requirements. This role supports manufacturing operations through corrective action management, quality system administration, inspection oversight, process improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement activities. The Quality Engineer serves as a key resource in maintaining compliance with nuclear quality standards while ensuring product quality, process effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and oversight to ensure compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ISO 9000, and other applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform defect trend analysis and root cause investigations of nonconforming materials, products, and manufacturing processes.
  • Create, evaluate, trend, and oversee corrective action requests (CARs) and verify the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Generate, revise, and implement Holtec work instructions and quality documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits, surveillances, and assessments of Holtec operations and supplier activities.
  • Provide technical support for work-in-process activities, product evaluations, testing, and inspection activities.
  • Support receiving inspection activities, including review and verification of material certifications and quality documentation.
  • Assist with Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) maintenance, calibration, and control programs.
  • Utilize metrology principles and statistical methods to identify, diagnose, and resolve quality control issues.
  • Review and verify quality records and document packages to ensure compliance with Interdivision Purchase Requisition (IPR) requirements.
  • Manage, mentor, and train Quality team members while supporting performance management and hiring activities.
  • Plan and schedule quality inspections related to incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
  • Coordinate quality-related activities with customers, suppliers, manufacturing personnel, and management.
  • Conduct quality and safety training related to standard operating procedures and quality requirements.
  • Administer and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and final product quality to ensure reliability, consistency, and compliance.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality metrics to support proactive process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, codes, standards, and customer requirements.

 Requirements :

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent preferred, with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or
  • Associate degree with a minimum of one year of quality assurance-related experience; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years of quality assurance-related experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable quality codes and standards, including:
    • 10 CFR 50 Appendix B
    • NQA-1
    • ISO 9000 Series
    • Other applicable industry consensus standards
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing Six Sigma analytical and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting nuclear, energy, heavy manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with corrective action programs, root cause analysis methodologies, and quality management systems.
