Logistics Supervisor

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of associates engaged in logistics, warehousing, inventory control, material handling, shipping, receiving, and internal movement of materials within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role manages day-to-day logistics operations with a focus on safety, people leadership, inventory accuracy, customer responsiveness, on-time delivery, and cost performance. The individual will manage multiple concurrent priorities, projects, and personnel while ensuring efficient material flow across operations.
Location: East Pittsburgh, PA (On‑site)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments and ensure material availability supports production and customer schedules
- Monitor inventory levels, warehouse organization, cycle counts, and material accuracy
- Collaborate with production, planning, purchasing, and transportation teams to minimize delays and improve throughput
- Ensure compliance with shipping documentation, inventory transactions, and company procedures
- Responsible for the performance of logistics, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and material handling associates. Work from schedules, tables, charts, drawings, general instructions and other data and information to plan and lay out work to ensure an orderly flow of material into and out of the area that meets the customer requirements including delivering the product on time
- Must continually involve all associates in search for ways to improve Safety, Quality, and On Time delivery performance
- Responsible for certification and re-certification of all associates for each skill in critical and non-critical operations
- Report all issues of concern to upper management as necessary using company policy and company Ethic’s policy. Handle discipline problems per department and company policy. Review all associate performance
- Take responsibility for all equipment, tools, parts and assigned area, this is shown by taking appropriate action in requesting maintenance repairs, ordering items through proper channels, and maintaining a neat clean and organized work area
- Must show innovation in problem solving while following Quality, Department and Company policies
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet logistics and delivery goals
- Must take an active part in generating departmental cost reduction savings in the area of production and process procedures or any other means
- Required to keep inventory, shipping, receiving, and operational records, as necessary
- Required to work nights, weekends and overtime and hours other than normal shift hours as required by management
- Conduct associate training in material handling, warehouse equipment operations or work and safety procedures
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, shipping schedules, inventory plans, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Work with the Operations, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to implement and maintain Holtec's Quality Assurance standards
- Observe work and monitor operations to ensure that associates conform to logistics, inventory, and operational standards
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations, Supply Chain/ Logistics Management, preferred or high school Diploma and 3+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing facility
- Experience in logistics, warehouse operations, material flow, inventory management, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing support operations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continuous improvement in all areas of the business
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, oral, listening)
- Ability to build constructive and effective relationships throughout the organization
- Demonstrated ability to lead the performance of logistics and warehouse associates in the areas of safety, people, quality, customer responsiveness and cost
- Must be able to work with multiple levels of the organization to complete goals
- Problem-solving skills and detailed oriented
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments with little supervision
- Working knowledge of Working knowledge of ERP systems, inventory controls, warehouse
- Self-starter with good organizational skills and adapt to a flexible schedule

- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and walk for long periods of time in the supervision of the crew members and the productive work
- Frequently required to stand/walk (85% of the workday), climb, lift, and carry (up to 20 pounds); infrequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift (up to 50 pounds), grasp, feel, and use repetitive motion
- May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions to include cold, uneven walking surfaces, dust, such as in a typical manufacturing environment

- Ability to get along with diverse personalities, good reasoning abilities and make sound judgments
