The Laborer supports daily manufacturing operations by handling materials, assisting with basic machining and fabrication processes, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting production teams by preparing materials, operating basic tools and equipment, and ensuring workflows move efficiently across machining, welding, and fabrication areas.

 

Location: E. Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite)

 

Shift: 1st or 2nd shift (9:30 AM – 7:00 PM, 9/80 schedule) or 3rd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle materials in and out of machines using manual methods, cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
  • Receive and execute instructions from supervisors, foremen, and work orders to support daily production needs
  • Assist with basic machine setups and simple machining operations as required
  • Perform weld preparation activities, including cleaning and preparing parts for fabrication
  • Use hand tools, grinders, and powered equipment (electric or pneumatic) to clean and finish parts and assemblies
  • Check basic part dimensions and ensure adherence to required tolerances and specifications
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines and equipment as needed
  • Record labor time, production activities, and job progress accurately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Support production teams including welders, machinists, burn table operators, quality control, and maintenance personnel
  • Assist supervisors and management to ensure smooth workflow and production execution

 

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment preferred
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, grinders, and material handling equipment preferred
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25–30 lbs frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and varying conditions
  • Ability to follow instructions, read basic work orders, and work as part of a team
  • Willingness to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
  • Basic understanding of safety practices in an industrial environment
