Holtec Palisades seeks qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent, Emergency Planning in its Emergency Planning department based at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the development and administration of emergency preparedness at a nuclear plant to protect the health and safety of the public and plant employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and revise Emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Oversight organization to assess site adherence to fleet practices.
  • Ensure emergency program meets all federal, state and local regulations and requirements. Establish and maintain working relationships with federal regulatory agencies and state/local government.
  • Review and approve department policies and procedures; provide oversight to ensure EP activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Oversee Emergency Response Teams, ERO team drills and evaluated exercises. Maintain ERO in a state of readiness. Ensure functionality of all plant emergency alert and communications systems. 
  • Oversee training of ERO Team members, local government representatives and the media.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years’ experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, radiation protection, chemistry, work management, engineering, licensing, finance, business services or equivalent.
  • Three years’ experience in Emergency Preparedness.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications.
  • SRO license or certification on a PWR (desired).
