Holtec Palisades seeks a highly motivated Summer Intern with the company’s Engineering department located at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI.
Palisades is positioned to become the first nuclear power plant in the United States to restart after previously entering the early stages of decommissioning. By joining our team, you will be part of a unique and historic undertaking for the nuclear industry and the nation!
In order to be considered, candidates must be actively enrolled in a college or university. Pay will be determined based on years completed.
Summary:
This internship provides hands-on experience in nuclear engineering, supporting the plant's restart and operations through contributions in design, programs, and systems engineering. Interns will rotate through projects across these areas, assisting with engineering deliverables, plant walkdowns, and preparations for key activities like spent fuel management and reactor reloads. This role offers exposure to a fast-paced industrial environment, emphasizing clean energy innovation and professional development. The internship runs from May to September 2026, is on-site, and pays based on academic years completed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with activities in the Spent Fuel Pool and pre-outage preparations.
- Supporting Reactor Core Reload processes.
- Support Preventive Maintenance and system return-to-service activities.
- Participating in miscellaneous projects related to plant systems.
Minimum Requirements:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Instrument & Controls, or Electrical Engineering (or related field); minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Must have completed Junior/Senior university years or be a graduate student.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Professional attitude, appearance, and work ethic.
- Enjoyment of working on various plant projects, including in radiologically controlled areas.
- No prior experience required.
- U.S. work rights required.
