Senior Director of Investments

Requisition ID:  1401
Location:

Camden, NJ, US

Job Family Function:  Administrative & Professional
Department:  Finance
Division:  Mariner Strategic Investment

The Senior Director of Investments leads research, sourcing, and due diligence across the firm’s family office and nuclear decommissioning trust investment platforms. This is a hands-on, analytically rigorous role requiring deep investment expertise and a bottom-up approach to professional manager evaluation and selection. The position reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer and operates across Mariner Strategic Investments (family office) and the nuclear decommissioning trust portfolios. The Senior Director of Investments will partner closely with the CIO, with meaningful responsibility, visibility, and impact from day one. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and shape an institutional-quality manager research function within a dynamic and growing investment platform.

Location: Camden, NJ (On‑site)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the sourcing, evaluation, and due diligence of external investment managers across public and private asset classes including equities, fixed income, private credit, real assets, and alternatives
  • Develop and maintain a proprietary manager research framework with consistent evaluation criteria, scoring methodology, and documentation standards
  • Conduct thorough bottom-up due diligence — reviewing investment philosophy, process, team, track record, risk management, operational infrastructure, and terms
  • Support portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions in partnership with the CIO, including manager sizing, diversification, and rebalancing
  • Monitor existing manager relationships — tracking performance, attribution, personnel changes, and strategy drift against mandate
  • Manage the ongoing external investment advisory relationships including Morgan Stanley, BMO, Northern Trust, JPM, and others
  • Prepare investment committee materials, manager reviews, and performance reports for senior management and family principal
  • Stay current on market developments, emerging managers, and investment opportunities relevant to the portfolio

Requirements:

  • 10 or more years of direct, hands-on investment experience — family office, endowment, foundation, OCIO, or institutional investment management background strongly preferred
  • Deep expertise in manager research and due diligence across multiple asset classes — demonstrated track record of manager selection and ongoing oversight
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills — ability to evaluate investment strategies, performance attribution, risk metrics, and portfolio construction independently
  • Familiarity with both liquid and illiquid asset classes including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets, and alternatives
  • Experience managing external manager relationships and investment advisory firm oversight
  • CFA designation or equivalent preferred
  • Undergraduate degree required — advanced degree in finance, economics, or related field preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — ability to present complex investment concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and family principals
  • High integrity, discretion, and professionalism — experience operating in a family office or high-trust principal environment strongly valued
