The SRO (Senior Reactor Operator) Operations Engineer II supports the development of the operational framework for the SMR‑300 small modular reactor, contributing to the design, functionality, and safety of next‑generation nuclear power systems. This role partners closely with engineering, human factors, and simulator teams to ensure systems are designed with strong operability, maintainability, and safety considerations across all plant conditions.
Location: Camden, NJ; Covert, MI; East Pittsburgh, PA; or North Pittsburgh, PA (On site)

Primary Responsibilities:
- Support development of plant operating programs, including Conduct of Operations and Technical Specifications
- Review system documentation such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and system design descriptions
- Provide operability assessments for systems under normal and off-normal operating conditions
- Define maintenance strategies and requirements for systems and components
- Collaborate with Human Factors Engineering (HFE) teams on task analysis, procedure development, and human-machine interface (HMI) design
- Review simulator outputs and assist in troubleshooting operational and simulation challenges
- Partner with system and mechanical engineers to develop equipment specifications (e.g., safety valves, pressure-reducing valves)
- Support refueling and defueling sequence planning and review mechanical designs for operational effectiveness
- Provide input into Safety Analysis Report development and support regulatory interactions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with I&C, mechanical, and system engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance
Requirements:
- 4–10 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience, specifically in pressurized water reactors (PWRs) as a Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of commercial PWR plant experience
- Strong understanding of PWR systems and operating conditions across all modes of operation
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical documentation
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and proficiency with computer-based tools
- Ability to work in a regulated environment and eligible under 10 CFR Part 810

- Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $145,000 to $165,000
