The Principal Structural Engineer in this department performs stress analysis and strength qualification of structures, systems, and components for nuclear and solar power plants using tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, SAP2000, and ETABS.

 

Location:  Camden, NJ or Cranberry, PA

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and design metallic, reinforced concrete, and soil-supported structures
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in structural analysis and design practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including thermal hydraulics, piping, and nuclear shielding
  • Support engineering and licensing activities for the SMR-300 program through first plant deployment
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of a modular steel-concrete structural system
  • Drive innovations focused on accelerated project schedules and cost efficiency via shop fabrication and site automation
  • Coordinate closely with international teams in Pune (India), Madrid (Spain), and Bristol (UK)

 

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
  • Experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ETABS, SAP2000, Plaxis 3D, and STAAD.Pro
  • Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ACI, ASCE and AISC
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and effective communication skills
  • Doctorate degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Experience in conducting seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses (preferred)
  • Knowledge of geotechnical and geophysical engineering (preferred)
  • Experience in modular design development of SSCs
  • Experience working with designers, fabricators, and constructors to develop models and drawings; knowledge of software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla, and Revit
  • Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities (preferred)

  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $150,000-$175,000
