The Associate Systems Engineer supports the design and development of critical components and systems for the SMR‑300 small modular reactor, contributing to the advancement of safe, clean nuclear energy. This role works within a multidisciplinary engineering team and partners closely with cross‑functional groups, including licensing and manufacturing, to support system integration activities, technical design development, and problem solving in a fast‑paced and highly regulated environment.

 

Location: Camden, NJ (On‑site)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop components and systems for the SMR‑300 small modular reactor
  • Support system integration activities, including requirements development and component specification
  • Perform engineering calculations related to system design, including heat transfer and fluid dynamics
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering disciplines and licensing teams
  • Interface with manufacturers to support design development and technical execution
  • Contribute to the creation and review of engineering documentation and technical reports
  • Support development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and related system drawings
  • Assist in solving complex engineering problems with practical, feasible design solutions
  • Participate in execution of U.S. Government cost‑shared development programs
  • Continuously build technical knowledge and skills to support evolving program needs

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or related engineering discipline
  • Experience developing engineering designs and drawings, including P&IDs
  • Experience within the nuclear energy industry
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as SmartPlant P&ID, MathCad, AutoCAD, Pipe-Flo, ELM, DOORS-NG, and HTRI
  • EIT certification

  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $85,000 to $100,000
